Possible side effect
Like all medicines, Nurofen can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
- Gastrointestinal: Indigestion, heartburn, nausea, abdominal pain.
- Nervous system: Headache, dizziness. Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- Vomiting, diarrhea, gas, constipation.
- Rash, itching.
- Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Rare/Serious (seek immediate medical attention if experienced):
- Signs of gastrointestinal bleeding: vomiting blood or particles that look like coffee grounds, black tarry stools, severe stomach pain.
- Signs of an allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing; severe skin reactions (e.g., blistering and peeling).
- Signs of heart problems: chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness in one part or side of the body.
- Signs of liver problems: yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine.

Drug interaction

Overdose
- Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or vomiting blood. Drowsiness, headache, tinnitus. In severe cases, metabolic acidosis, hypotension, respiratory depression, acute renal failure, and coma may occur.
- Action: If you suspect an overdose, even if there are no symptoms, contact a doctor or your local poison control center immediately, or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed by a medical professional. Take the medicine packet with you to show the doctor.
Storage
- Store in the original package below 25ยฐC (77ยฐF) to protect from light and moisture.
- Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging after “EXP.” The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
- Do not dispose of medications via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required.
